Meet Common Grounds Co-ordinaror Jo Stevens from The Zen Zone.
Jo Stevens is the founder of The Zen Zone.
The Zen Zone provide Workplace Mental Health Zen Programs to empower Leaders and their colleagues by not only supporting their mental health but by enabling them to better manage their own mental well-being with simple but effective breathing movement techniques.
Jo is a Certified Mindfulness & Mindful Movement Coach.
Mindful Movements is a unique program that is a combination of Qi-Gong, Shaking Yoga and Meditation. The Zen Zone uses this modality throughout their workshops as it is a quick and effective way for clients to reduce stress through movement.
Jo is an accredited Mental Health First Aide Officer and is passionate about supporting others to take control of their mental wellbeing, step out of their comfort zone and learn to accept themselves for who they are.
"I am passionate about supporting people's mental wellbeing through simple but effective breathing movement techniques. My goal is to remove the stigma regarding mental health and have people understand that their mental wellbeing is just as important as their physical wellbeing"
As a small business owner, Jo is also passionate about supporting women in business.
When Jo was approached to take over Common Grounds Women's Networking Meetup in January 2021, Jo was excited at the prospect of supporting women by creating a supportive and educational networking group.
"Common Grounds has been an incredible opportunity, I feel so honoured to take on the co-ordinator role and enjoy meeting like-minded women in business and in life."
If you would like to join the Common Grounds Community, go to the Facebook page.
Taking over the Common Grounds Coordinator role, also gave Jo the opportunity to partner with Kirsty Fields from Social Ocean. Kirsty also runs a networking group on the Redcliffe Peninsula, Ocean Network. Kirsty approached Jo with an idea of organising Ladies business lunches, with the focus on networking and building friendship connections.
Ladies Who Long Lunch was launched in 2021, and the first event will coincide with International Women's Day, with the plan for future events throughout 2022.
The 2022 International Women’s Day theme is #breakthebias, this important date on the business calendar for women, celebrating achievements by women in business around Australia and Internationally. For more information about Ladies Who Long Lunch and upcoming events, visit their Facebook Page.
Like many women, Jo wears many hats.
The one thing that keeps Jo grounded is her family, and she loves to spend quality time with her husband and two adult children.
"Family is everything, and as much as I enjoy my work and supporting women in business. Spending time with my family and being fully present is my number one priority."
